Please protect the fragile backs of your doxies by NOT allowing them to run up or down stairs, or jump on or off furniture.
Dachshunds make excellent watch dogs. Please be sure you AND your neighbors will be able to handle the "noise" a doxie can make. They will alert you to anyone and anything that they feel you need to be aware of. This includes the mailman, trash truck, delivery people, solicitors, friends and family members, passersby, other animals, coming storms, falling leaves, blowing wind, and creatures only visible to their eyes, etc., etc. They have no concept of time, so barking as loudly as they possibly can at 3am is not an issue for them and they don't understand why it would be for you. They are, after all, only doing what they think is right by protecting their home and loved ones.
